Program Overview

Our puppy classes focus on the critical socialization period for puppies aged 8-16 weeks. Using positive reinforcement methods, we help puppies develop into confident, well-adjusted adult dogs.

Critical Socialization Window

Research shows dogs develop social skills best between 8-16 weeks old. Missing this window can lead to lifelong behavioral challenges.

Weekly Class Curriculum

Week 1: Introduction

Meeting other puppies in a safe environment
Basic touch and handling
Getting comfortable with the training facility
Learning to play appropriately

Week 2: Basic Commands

Introduction to sit and come commands
Positive reinforcement techniques
Treat and toy rewards
Building confidence and trust

Week 3: Socialization

Controlled interactions with other dogs
Learning appropriate social cues
Different surfaces and environments
People and stranger desensitization

Week 4: Handling

Grooming and veterinary handling
Nail trimming and ear cleaning
Restraint and confinement training
Touch and sound desensitization

Week 5: Focus & Control

Attention and focus exercises
Leaving it and drop it commands
Short leash walking introduction
Name recognition and focus

Week 6: Graduation

Review of all learned skills
Advanced socialization scenarios
Family interaction training
Graduation ceremony and certificates

Program Details

Duration: 6 weeks of weekly sessions + ongoing socialization

Prerequisites: Puppies aged 8-16 weeks, up-to-date vaccinations, family commitment

Certification: Complete puppy socialization and basic training certification

Location: Our puppy-safe training facility - Taylor, MI

Cost: $350 per puppy (6 week program)
